Caramelo Latin Dance Performance Teams 2015

This is an exceptional chance to be a part of a dedicated and passionate team, train hard, push your limits, enjoy the process and have fun, learn a stylish choreography and have opportunities to perform both in the UK and internationally as part of the Caramelo student team.

Training within a student dance team is a great way to significantly raise your level of dancing. Although it is hard work, benefits are enormous for those passionate about improving and developing on their dance journey. You will receive a lot of feedback and support throughout the course, along with some hardcore training!

Considering a big emphasis on technique, our courses will be of immense benefit to any social dancer as you will learn styling, footwork, turn-patterns, moves and styling that would equally be leadable on the dance floor. What you will learn in our training courses can be directly applied to any social dance setting and will equip you with the range of moves, techniques and styling that will not only give you confidence, but will also make you stand out on the dance floor.

We put a lot of effort, time and attention into our student teams to help you become the best you can be. Similarly, from your side, the amount of consistent work and dedication you put in is of utmost importance to your success and your ability to perform the choreography to the required standard. All performances are merit-based and are not guaranteed unless you reach the required level.

Your committment to the rehearsals and planned shows schedules, as well as committment to independent practice and improvement are essential for your participation and success in the course.

The costumes are selected by the school and the team director to match the vision of the choreography. They are professionally made to measure.

What We Look For in Performers:

dance/movement experience
a positive, open-minded & team-oriented attitude
professionalism, maturity and dedication to create a polished show
performance experience is an asset, but is not required
regular attendance of training/rehearsals essential

HOW TO JOIN:

Please email us to express your interest and request further information about the courses. Let us know about the dance style(s) you are interested in and the level of your prior experience. We run two training seasons per year starting in January and June, keep an eye out for the Audition dates!

COURSE COSTS:

In addition to the course price, you need to budget for additional costs which include the costume at around £110, the shoes at £65-70, tights, make-up, accessories & decorations, any additional rehearsal space costs outside of the 12 course sessions at Caramelo, as well as your flight / hotel / pass expenses for the events. At their discretion, the organizers may be able to offer a discounted pass / accommodation for the Caramelo performers.

Please note that the cost of the course, the costume and the shoes is non refundable.

For any congress events, the organisers may be able to offer you a discount on your pass at their discretion.

PERFORMANCES:

Performance are merit based and will be taking place for a period of about 8 weeks after the completion of the course, exact dates be confirmed for each team. Please manage your availability accordingly in order to make sure you are available to perform. You will have opportunities to perform both in the UK, as well as at prestigious international festivals and congresses. You are responsible for your own travel and accomodation expenses.

Level: Intermediate / Advanced

COURSE DETAILS:

We are looking for 6-7 couples of Higher Intermediate to Advanced level with experience of dancing cross-body Salsa on1.
To make it smoother for the tryouts, we are asking dancers attending to COME WITH A PARTNER
If you have never performed in previous Caramelo teams, attendance for the tryout auditions is A MUST if you wish to be considered for the team(s). This helps the Director and choreographers when looking at such things as personality, ability, attitude, etc. This is also the perfect place to ask us any and all questions you might have about the performance team.

COMMITTMENT:

The course will take place over 12 sessions after which you wil need to be available for about 8 weeks of performances. The team will be training on Wednesdays at Paddington Academy mirrored dance studios. Regular attendance of the training and rehearsal sessions, as well as the subsequent attendance of the pre-planned shows is imperative for your progress and ability to perform.
